How faceless storytelling channels make their drawings
Most channels never say, but simple story drawings are made one of three ways: drawn by the creator in an app such as MS Paint, Procreate or Krita, drawn by a hired illustrator, or drawn by an AI tool from the narration, such as Alpy. By hand takes hours per minute of video; an illustrator costs per drawing; Alpy draws a scene for each part of your voice or script, with one recurring character, in minutes.

| Way | What you do | Time for an 8-minute video |
|---|---|---|
| Draw it yourself (MS Paint, Procreate, Krita) | Draw every scene, then time each one to the voice in an editor | Days: 60 to 100 drawings plus editing |
| Hire an illustrator | Send the script, review drawings, edit them in | Days to weeks; price per drawing varies by artist |
| Alpy | Upload the narration or paste a script, pick a character | Minutes; you redraw any scene you do not like |
An 8-minute video has about 60 to 100 scenes at the pace story channels change pictures, every five to eight seconds.
What makes the style work
- One recurring character. Viewers follow a person, not a slideshow. The same face in every scene is what turns pictures into a story.
- Plain backgrounds. White or a single colour keeps the eye on what is happening.
- A new picture every few seconds. Each one shows the sentence being said: the character runs, the door opens, the number appears.
- Deliberately simple lines. The rough look is part of the joke and the charm, and it is what makes daily uploads possible.
Making them with Alpy
- Bring the story. Record yourself telling it, or paste a script and pick one of six AI voices.
- Pick a character. The Stickman, the Survivor Stickman for survival stories, the Ancient Stickman for history, or an animal. All free, or upload your own.
- Get the video. Alpy draws a scene for each part on a white background and cuts each in on its words, then gives you the MP4 with title ideas, a description and a thumbnail.
Where Alpy is not the right fit
- Six AI voices, not a large voice library, and no voice cloning
- Horizontal 16:9 only, no vertical Shorts
- One deliberately simple drawing style, not polished animation
- No free plan
Questions
- What app do storytelling YouTubers use to draw?
- Many draw by hand in MS Paint, Procreate or Krita, or hire illustrators; most do not say. AI tools such as Alpy now draw the scenes from the narration.
- Can AI draw the pictures for my story channel?
- Yes. Alpy draws a scene for each part of your narration or script, with the same character in every scene, timed to the words.
- Do I need to be able to draw?
- No. With Alpy you never draw; with a hand-drawn channel the simpler the better, and many successful ones are stick figures.
- What does it cost?
- Setting up a video is free, and you see the price before you pay. Finishing one video is $7 a video or $29/month.
