How to make a cartoon animal explain things in a YouTube video with AI
Pick a cartoon animal as the host, write the explainer for it, and let a tool draw the animal acting out every part of the script, such as Alpy. Alpy has 16 free animal characters, from a hamster that worries about money to an owl that explains everything, or you can make your own. Paste the script for an AI voice or upload your narration, and every scene is drawn with the same animal doing what you describe.

- It gives a faceless channel a face. Viewers remember a recurring host; a hamster with money anxiety is easier to recognise than stock footage.
- It makes dry topics watchable. Compound interest, cognitive biases or the water cycle are easier to sit through when someone is living them on screen.
- The personality writes jokes for you. A suspicious raccoon reading the fine print or a slow turtle who still gets there are angles, not just mascots.
Which animal for which topic
| Topic | Animals that suit it | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Money, budgeting, scams | Hamster, Raccoon, Shark | Small expenses, fine print, smelling a bad deal |
| Psychology, habits | Cat, Rabbit, Capybara | Judging people, too many tabs, one problem at a time |
| Science, how things work | Penguin, Owl, Fox | Endless questions, knowing a bit of everything, clever plans |
| Self-improvement, fitness | Gorilla, Turtle, Dog | Big plans, slow progress, believing in you |
| Internet culture, tech | Frog, Monkey, Robot | Too online, unexpected turns, understanding the algorithm |
All are free to use in Alpy; see them on the characters page.
How to do it, step by step
- Choose one animal for the channel, not one per video. The host is the brand.
- Write the script in the third person, around the animal. "The hamster checks his bank app and sees four streaming services" gives every scene something to draw.
- Paste it into [Alpy's studio](/create) and pick one of six AI voices, or upload your own narration. Scripts need 110 to 2,700 words.
- Pick the animal. Every scene is drawn with it, in the same simple style, on a white background, cut to the narration.
- Review and finish. Redraw any scene that misses (1 to 5 redraws a video are free, by plan), then download the MP4 with title ideas, a description and a thumbnail.
Examples hosted by an animal
- Why You Think Everyone Notices Your Embarrassing Moments: psychology, hosted by the Cat, 3:06.
- Why Is the Sky Blue Instead of Violet or Black?: science, hosted by the Penguin, 2:57.
- Why Your Small Subscriptions Add Up to Big Spending: money, hosted by the Raccoon, 2:45.
Where Alpy is not the right fit
- Six AI voices, not a large voice library, and no voice cloning
- Horizontal 16:9 only, no vertical Shorts
- One deliberately simple drawing style, not polished animation
- No free plan beyond the preview
Questions
- Is there an AI that makes videos with a cartoon animal explaining things?
- Yes. Alpy draws a narrated YouTube video around one cartoon animal, from a script read by an AI voice or from your own recording.
- Can I use my own animal character?
- Yes. Upload a drawing or describe it, and it is used in every scene.
- Can the animal talk on screen?
- The narration is a voice-over and the animal acts out what is said in each scene. There is no lip sync.
- Which animal is best for a finance channel?
- The Hamster, an earnest little accountant with big feelings about small expenses, or the Raccoon, who has read the fine print, are made for it.
- What does it cost?
- Setting up a video is free, and you see the price before you pay. Finishing one video is $7 a video or $29/month.
