How to make an MS Paint style video for YouTube

Give your narration to a tool that draws in that style, such as Alpy, or draw every scene yourself in Paint. Alpy draws deliberately simple, MS Paint-style scenes from what is said, on white backgrounds, with one recurring character, and cuts each drawing in on the words it shows. Record your own voice or paste a script for an AI voice; a free preview shows the first 10 seconds before you pay. Drawing it by hand gives full control and takes hours per minute of video.

Why the MS Paint look works on YouTube

  • It reads instantly. A wobbly stickman with a speech bubble is understood in a second, which keeps attention on what is being said.
  • It is funny on purpose. Crude drawings make a dry topic, from money to history, feel light without changing the facts.
  • It looks like a person made it. In a feed of stock footage and glossy AI clips, a rough drawing stands out.
  • It suits narration. The pictures illustrate the voice rather than compete with it, so it fits explainers, stories and commentary.

How to do it with Alpy, step by step

  • Write for listening. Short sentences, one idea each, concrete over abstract: every sentence becomes something to draw.
  • Add the voice. In Alpy's studio, record or upload yourself reading it, or paste the script and pick one of six AI voices in 4 deliveries.
  • Pick a character. A stickman, a cat, a raccoon, a penguin and others are free, or upload your own drawing.
  • Watch the free preview, then finish. The first 10 seconds are drawn and cut before you pay. Finish the whole video, redraw any scene you would draw differently, and download the 16:9 MP4 with title ideas, a description and a thumbnail.

What a finished one looks like

Alpy's own examples, made in the studio the way any customer's video is made.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Mixing styles. A clean vector icon next to a crude doodle breaks the joke. Keep every scene in the same rough style.
  • Long stretches with nothing new. The style works when the picture changes with the sentence; a paragraph with nothing to show gets a vague drawing.
  • Text-heavy scenes. A few big words read; a paragraph on screen does not.
  • Expecting Shorts. Alpy makes horizontal 16:9 videos for YouTube, not vertical Shorts or Reels.

Where Alpy is not the right fit

  • Six AI voices, not a large voice library, and no voice cloning
  • Horizontal 16:9 only, no vertical Shorts
  • One deliberately simple drawing style, not polished animation
  • No free plan beyond the preview

Questions

Is there an AI that makes MS Paint style videos?
Yes. Alpy draws simple, MS Paint-style scenes from your narration or a typed script, with one recurring character, and times each drawing to the words. The first 10 seconds are a free preview.
Can I use my own drawing as the character?
Yes. Upload a drawing and it becomes the character in every scene, at no extra cost.
Are the backgrounds always white?
Yes, by design: simple drawings on white keep the focus on the joke and the narration.
Can MS Paint style channels be monetised?
Faceless channels can join the YouTube Partner Program. YouTube excludes mass-produced or repetitive content, so original scripts with something to say are what matter.
How long can the video be?
Up to 20 minutes per video, from 110 words of script or a recording of 10 seconds to 20 minutes.
How much does it cost?
The preview is free with no card. Finishing one video is $7 a video or $29/month.
