How to turn a voice recording into an animated video

Upload the recording to a tool that draws scenes from what is said, such as Alpy. It transcribes your audio, draws a simple illustrated scene for each part of it with one recurring character, and cuts each drawing in on the words it shows. You get a finished 16:9 video with your recording as the soundtrack. Recordings can be 10 seconds to 20 minutes long, and a free preview shows the first 10 seconds before you pay anything.

What kind of recording works

  • Someone talking. Narration, an explanation, a story, a voice memo, a podcast segment with one speaker. The pictures come from the words, so speech is what matters.
  • Not music. A song or an instrumental track has no words to draw from. Talking over quiet background music is fine.
  • Any length from 10 seconds to 20 minutes. For a first video, two to five minutes is easier to judge than twenty.
  • Clear, not studio-perfect. A phone recording in a quiet room is enough. Echo and a loud room hurt more than a cheap microphone.
  • MP3, WAV or M4A. The usual files from a phone, a recorder or an audio editor. A long recording is compressed for you.
  • Not only English. The studio is in English, but videos have been made from narration in Hindi, Turkish, Arabic, German and Spanish, and the drawings follow what is said.

How to do it, step by step

  • Trim the recording. Cut long silences, false starts and anything you would not want illustrated. Open on the most interesting sentence.
  • Upload it. In Alpy's studio, choose My voice, then upload the file, or record straight into the browser.
  • Pick a character. Choose one of the free characters, or upload your own drawing. The same character appears in every scene.
  • Watch the free preview. The first 10 seconds are drawn and cut to your audio before you pay anything.
  • Finish and fix. Generate the whole video, redraw any scene you do not like (the first five redraws on a video are free), and download the MP4 with three title ideas, a description and a thumbnail.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Uploading a recording you have not listened back to. Every cough and restart gets a picture.
  • Using someone else's voice without permission. Only upload recordings you have the right to publish.
  • Expecting every word to get its own drawing. Scenes change every few seconds, at the ends of sentences where one is close, so each picture covers an idea, not a word.
  • Picking a vertical format. Alpy makes horizontal 16:9 videos for YouTube, not Shorts or Reels.

Where Alpy is not the right fit

  • Six AI voices, not a large voice library, and no voice cloning
  • Horizontal 16:9 only, no vertical Shorts
  • One deliberately simple drawing style, not polished animation
  • No free plan beyond the preview

Questions

Can AI turn my voice recording into an animated video?
Yes. Alpy takes a recording of you talking, draws an illustrated scene for each part of it with one recurring character, and cuts the drawings to your words. Recordings can be 10 seconds to 20 minutes; the first 10 seconds are a free preview.
Does it change or clone my voice?
No. Your recording is the soundtrack exactly as you uploaded it. Alpy never clones a voice.
Can I turn a podcast episode into a video?
Yes, if one person is mostly talking. Cut it to the part you want, up to 20 minutes, and upload that. Several people talking over each other is harder to illustrate.
How much does it cost?
The preview is free. Finishing one video is $7 a video or $29/month, with no subscription needed for a single video.
What if I do not have a recording yet?
Type or paste a script and pick one of six AI voices instead; the video is made the same way.
