How to turn a podcast episode into an animated video
Cut the part of the episode you want, export it as audio, and upload it to a tool that draws scenes from what is said, such as Alpy. Alpy transcribes the audio, draws a simple illustrated scene for each part with one recurring character, and cuts each drawing in on the words it shows, so the episode becomes a 16:9 YouTube video without a camera. It works best on a stretch where one person is mostly talking. Segments can be 10 seconds to 20 minutes, and a free preview shows the first 10 seconds before you pay.

- A story, an explanation or a rant. One person telling something with a beginning and an end illustrates best: the drawings follow the words.
- Not crosstalk. Two hosts talking over each other is hard to illustrate, and the video has one recurring character. Pick a stretch where one voice carries it.
- A self-contained segment. Five to fifteen minutes that make sense without the rest of the episode. A whole episode works up to 20 minutes, but a strong segment is easier to watch.
- Cut the ad reads and the housekeeping. Sponsor spots and "before we start" chat are the parts nobody wants drawn.
How to do it, step by step
- Trim the segment. In your podcast editor (Audacity, GarageBand, Descript, Riverside), cut the part you chose and remove long silences.
- Export it as audio. MP3, WAV or M4A. If your episode is a video file, export the audio track; a long file is compressed for you on upload.
- Upload it. In Alpy's studio, choose My voice and upload the file.
- Pick a character. One of the free characters, or upload a drawing of the host. It appears in every scene.
- Watch the free preview, then finish. The first 10 seconds are drawn and cut to the audio before you pay. Finish the video, redraw any scene you do not like, and download the MP4 with three title ideas, a description and a thumbnail.
Ways to turn a podcast into a video
| Way | What you get | Good for |

Mistakes to avoid
- Uploading the whole two-hour episode. Pick the best segment; each video is up to 20 minutes.
- Music beds under the voice. Quiet background music is fine; a loud bed or a song makes the words harder to hear and to draw from.
- Inside jokes with no context. A stranger on YouTube has not heard the last 40 episodes. Open with a line that sets up the segment.
- Expecting Shorts. Alpy makes horizontal 16:9 videos for YouTube, not vertical Shorts or Reels.
Where Alpy is not the right fit
- Six AI voices, not a large voice library, and no voice cloning
- Horizontal 16:9 only, no vertical Shorts
- One deliberately simple drawing style, not polished animation
- No free plan beyond the preview
Questions
- Is there an AI that turns a podcast into an animated video?
- Yes. Alpy takes podcast audio, draws an illustrated scene for each part of what is said with one recurring character, and cuts the drawings to the words. Segments can be 10 seconds to 20 minutes; the first 10 seconds are a free preview.
- Does it work with two hosts?
- It works best where one person is mostly talking. The video has one recurring character, and two voices talking over each other are hard to illustrate.
- Does it change my audio?
- No. The episode's audio is the soundtrack exactly as you uploaded it. Alpy never clones a voice.
- Can I upload a video file of my podcast?
- Export the audio track as MP3, WAV or M4A and upload that.
- What languages work?
- The studio is in English, but videos have been made from narration in Hindi, Turkish, Arabic, German and Spanish, and the drawings follow what is said.
- How much does it cost?
- The preview is free with no card. Finishing one video is $7 a video or $29/month.
