How to make a whiteboard or doodle video from a voiceover

Either place and time every drawing yourself in a whiteboard tool such as VideoScribe or Doodly, or give the voiceover to a tool that draws from it, such as Alpy. Whiteboard tools animate a hand drawing images you choose and line up by hand. Alpy listens to the voiceover, draws a simple doodle-style scene on a white background for each part of it with one recurring character, and cuts each drawing in on the words it shows, with no hand and no timeline. A free preview shows the first 10 seconds before you pay.

The classic hand-drawing reveal is what whiteboard tools are for. If that animation is the point, use one; if the doodle look and the timing are, the second column is faster.

How to do it with Alpy, step by step

  • Record the voiceover. A phone in a quiet room is enough. Cut long silences and false starts.
  • Upload it. In Alpy's studio, choose My voice and upload the MP3, WAV or M4A, or record in the browser. No recording yet? Paste a script and pick an AI voice.
  • Pick a character. The Classic Stickman, the Owl or another free character, or upload your own drawing.
  • Watch the free preview, then finish. The first 10 seconds are drawn and cut to your voice before you pay. Finish the video, redraw any scene you would draw differently, and download the 16:9 MP4.

What a finished one looks like

Alpy's own examples, made in the studio the way any customer's video is made.

Mistakes to avoid

  • A voiceover with nothing to picture. "Several factors contribute" draws vaguely; "the average person checks their phone 96 times a day" draws well.
  • Too many words on the board. A few big words read; a paragraph does not.
  • Music louder than the voice. The drawings follow the words, so they need to be heard.
  • Expecting Shorts. Alpy makes horizontal 16:9 videos for YouTube, not vertical Shorts or Reels.

Where Alpy is not the right fit

  • Six AI voices, not a large voice library, and no voice cloning
  • Horizontal 16:9 only, no vertical Shorts
  • One deliberately simple drawing style, not polished animation
  • No free plan beyond the preview
  • No drawing-hand animation: scenes cut in rather than being drawn on screen

Questions

Is there an AI that makes whiteboard animation from audio?
Alpy draws a doodle-style scene on white for each part of an audio file, with one recurring character, and times each one to the words. It does not animate a drawing hand; whiteboard tools such as VideoScribe do, with images you place yourself. The first 10 seconds are a free preview.
Do I have to time the drawings myself?
Not in Alpy: each drawing cuts in on the words it shows. In classic whiteboard tools you line each image up on a timeline.
Can I use my own voice?
Yes, it is the usual way: upload your voiceover and it is the soundtrack exactly as recorded. Alpy never clones a voice.
How long can the video be?
Recordings of 10 seconds to 20 minutes.
How much does it cost?
The preview is free with no card. Finishing one video is $7 a video or $29/month.
